At Royat Al-Ebtikar International School, even before the school year kicked off, we were already hard at work planning for our students' success. That’s why, for two weeks before the students returned, our teachers were immersed in intensive training, preparing to bring their very best to the classroom.
Our faculty, staff, and teachers have decades of experience, but those two weeks were crucial. They weren’t just about brushing up on old skills, but about moving forward together to make sure we continue to be Jeddah’s leading primary school. It was a time for our teachers to feel supported, share ideas, and brainstorm solutions. The result? Everyone started the year with a shared focus: our students’ well-being.
Our training sessions focused on enhancing our teachers’ skills and getting them ready for the future. We brought in specialists, had talks from our Health and Safety Officer, and worked closely with our school’s Multi Disciplinary Team to cover all the bases.
We follow the British curriculum, but we also believe in a holistic approach to education. That means we're not just about academics – we care about nurturing every aspect of a child’s well-being. Our Multi Disciplinary Team worked with the teachers on how to integrate holistic skills into their lessons, focusing on both the mind and the heart.
For us, that means helping children understand and manage their emotions. We don’t aim to make our students happy all the time – that’s not realistic – but we do teach them how to recognize their feelings and respond in healthy ways. Sometimes, sadness or disappointment might come out as anger, and it’s important that our teachers can help students get to the root of those emotions and deal with them constructively. After all, emotions play a big role in learning and even in physical health.
Learning how to manage emotions will serve our students well for the rest of their lives. Whether it’s a big test or an important meeting down the road, or when things don’t go as planned, our students will have the emotional tools to navigate it all.
We also had an educational behavior specialist work with our teachers on spotting early signs that a student might not be comfortable and how to adjust the environment to help them thrive. Plus, a strategic instruction expert guided us on how to make learning accessible for all kinds of students, ensuring that every child feels motivated and responsible for their own learning.
And of course, our Health and Safety Officer made sure everyone was up-to-date with the latest policies and best practices, from resolving playground conflicts to food safety. Keeping our students healthy and safe is always a top priority.
At Roya, we’re committed to offering our students the very best. That’s why we invest in our teachers, ensuring they’re always learning and growing too. Year after year, we’ll continue to improve because that’s what our students deserve – and that’s what makes us one of the best schools in Saudi Arabia.
