On December 19, 2024, the students of Early and Primary Years at Royat Al-Ebtikar International School in Jeddah came together to celebrate
National Arabic Language Day. Bringing the Arabic language to life in exciting and meaningful ways, the celebration was a perfect blend of education, creativity, and cultural pride.
Students were introduced to the
beauty of the Arabic language through a series of hands-on activities, performances, and engaging storytelling sessions. They had a wonderful time and were captivated by the new ways they interacted with Arabic.
The event featured a variety of activities designed to spark curiosity, enhance language skills, and foster a deeper appreciation for Arabic literature and culture. Here's what made the day unforgettable.
Students ventured into the world of
Arabic calligraphy. Guided by skilled instructors, they explored the intricate strokes of Arabic letters, experimenting with colorful inks and creating their own personalized designs. A special "Stamp Corner" allowed students to craft unique works of art, while the playful "Fishing for Letters" game made writing fun and interactive.
The workshop not only enhanced their writing skills but also inspired a deep respect for the historical and cultural significance of Arabic calligraphy.
A heartwarming highlight of the day was the students’ performances. Young learners enthusiastically recited verses from the Holy Quran, shared moving Arabic poems, and showcased their joy through singing and dancing. These performances connecting students to the language on a deeply emotional level while instilling confidence and public speaking skills.
Students gathered to listen to captivating Arabic tales during
storytime. As stories were told, young listeners traveled through worlds filled with adventure, lessons, and cultural depth. Follow-up discussions encouraged them to ask insightful questions, reflect on moral lessons, and share their thoughts, fostering imagination and critical thinking.
The stories also emphasized the richness of Arabic literature and its role in shaping thought, values, and creativity in everyday life. At the same time the students learned about the morals important to the Saudi people, they were enchanted by each tale.
The event was held in the beautifully decorated Sensory Room, expertly prepared to inspire and engage students at every turn. The space featured colorful Arabic letters, striking calligraphy, and a giant "book wall" that helped instill a love for reading. Students had an amazing time exploring the Arabic language in new and exciting ways.
Teachers and parents alike commented about the success of the event, noting that students were not only engaged but also left with a newfound appreciation for the Arabic language and culture.
