πͺ Wellness Warriors: A Student-Led Celebration of Health and Wellbeing π
Health, happiness, leadership and hands-on learning came together for a memorable Physical Wellness and Fitness event at Royat Al-Ebtikar International School!
On 27 April, our Primary students from Year 2 to Year 5 took an active role in promoting healthy lifestyles, personal hygiene and physical wellbeing through a range of exciting student-led activities. From a healthy snack bar and relaxing spa experience to an energetic outdoor boot camp, the event gave students the opportunity to turn what they had learned into meaningful real-life experiences. π±β¨
ποΈ A Morning of Wellness and Student Leadership
From 9:10 a.m. to 10:20 a.m., the school’s event hall, gym, football field and basketball court were transformed into interactive wellness spaces filled with energy, creativity and teamwork. Rather than simply participating, the students took responsibility for organising, presenting and managing many of the activities themselves.
Teachers and administrators watched as students demonstrated confidence, communication, teamwork and leadership while sharing important messages about fitness, hygiene, nutrition and self-care.
The event was a wonderful example of how experiential learning can help students develop skills that extend far beyond the classroom. π
π₯ Year 2's “Grab & Go” Healthy Snack Bar
Our
Year 2 students took responsibility for organising a colourful Grab & Go Healthy Snack Bar, conveniently located in the gym between the spa and outdoor boot camp areas. Working together, students managed the station,
welcomed visitors and explained the different food options available.
Their enthusiasm certainly paid off — by the end of the event, every item at the snack bar had sold out! π
π½οΈ What Was on the Menu?
Visitors could choose from a variety of healthy and refreshing options, including:
- πΏ Popcorn
- π΄ Dates
- π₯ Vegetable sticks served with hummus and sour cream dip
- π Fresh fruits
- π₯£ Frozen açaí cups with assorted toppings
- π§ Water, soda water and fresh juices
Each student was given a specific responsibility, helping them practise organisation, teamwork and independence.
Students also confidently interacted with visitors, describing the food choices and discussing their health benefits. Through these conversations, they had the
opportunity to strengthen their public speaking, communication and social interaction skills.
πβοΈ Roya H&H Spa: Learning About Wellness and Self-Care
Our Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 girls worked together to create the wonderful Roya H&H Spa — the result of approximately three months of preparation, discussion and training.
In the lead-up to the event, students took part in sessions covering several important health and wellbeing topics, including:
- πβοΈ Hair care and suitable hairstyles for Ramadan
- π§Ό Personal hygiene and caring for different parts of the body
- πβοΈ Fitness and healthy habits
- π₯ Healthy eating and maintaining a healthy body
- βοΈ Understanding body mass and body weight
These sessions helped students build greater awareness of personal hygiene, self-care and healthy lifestyles, while also strengthening their communication and presentation skills.
On the day of the event, the spa was presented and managed by the students themselves, with pairs of students responsible for each station.
ποΈ Reception Corner
Two students welcomed teachers and guests and guided them through the different spa stations, practising hospitality, communication and organisation.
𧴠Skin Care Corner
Students used natural ingredients to gently scrub and moisturise teachers’ hands while discussing the importance of caring for the skin and making thoughtful choices about wellness products.
π Face Care Corner
At the face care station, students prepared natural face masks and cucumber eye patches while explaining the ingredients and demonstrating simple skin-care routines.
πβοΈ Hairstyling Corner
Students put their training into practice by styling and blow-drying teachers’ hair, giving them an opportunity to demonstrate both creativity and practical skills.
π₯€ Detox Water Corner
Students prepared and served refreshing infused water to guests, encouraging healthy hydration habits and showing how simple choices can contribute to everyday wellbeing.
πΈ Photo Booth Corner
The spa experience also featured a cheerful photo booth where teachers and guests could capture memorable moments and celebrate the students’ achievements.
Throughout the activity, the girls demonstrated
independence, creativity, confidence and responsibility, making the Roya H&H Spa a meaningful example of learning through practical experience.
πͺ Outdoor Boot Camp: Fitness, Teamwork and Motivation
Meanwhile, our Year 3, Year 4 and Year 5 boys collaborated to organise an energetic outdoor boot camp for teachers and staff.
Taking on the role of trainers, the students guided participants through a series of physical activities while offering encouragement and motivation along the way. πβοΈ
The activity reinforced an important message: physical activity can be enjoyable, accessible and incorporated into everyday life.
It also gave the boys an opportunity to practise leadership, communication and responsibility while creating a positive and energetic atmosphere for everyone involved.
π Learning Through Experience
Throughout the event, students had valuable opportunities to:
- π Apply their knowledge of health, fitness and personal hygiene
- π£οΈ Build confidence in speaking and presenting to others
- π€ Strengthen teamwork and collaboration
- π Practise responsibility and organisation
- π± Promote healthy habits and self-care awareness
- π‘ Develop independence and leadership skills
These practical experiences helped students connect classroom learning with real-life situations in an engaging and memorable way.
π Celebrating Inclusion with the SPED Department
We were also delighted to see the involvement of our SPED Department, whose participation helped make the event welcoming and inclusive.
Their contribution reflected our commitment to creating learning experiences where
every student has the opportunity to participate, contribute and shine. π€
π A Celebration of Health, Confidence and Student Agency
The Physical Wellness and Fitness event at Royat Al-Ebtikar International School was much more than a day of activities. It was an opportunity for students to take ownership of their learning, share their knowledge and discover what they can achieve when given meaningful responsibilities.
From preparing healthy food and discussing personal wellness to leading fitness activities and welcoming guests, our students demonstrated confidence, teamwork, creativity, communication and responsibility throughout the morning.
Most importantly, the event created a joyful environment in which students and teachers could learn together while celebrating health, wellbeing and positive lifestyle habits. β€οΈ
Experiences like these remind us that education extends beyond the classroom. By giving children opportunities to lead, create and participate, we help them develop the skills and confidence they need for the future.
Well done to all our wonderful Wellness Warriors! ππ
